Background: Nurse and parent participation in providing family-centered care is a well-known concept. Emotional intelligence and competence are the basic prerequisite for participatory nursing based on supportive interactions. Therefore, this research was carried out with the aim of determining the relationship between parent-nurse partnership and competency and emotional intelligence of nurses in pediatric departments.Materials and Methods: This study is a descriptive-analytical study of the correlation type. 100 nurses of children's wards of Shahrekord city were studied by census method. The data were collected using three standard questionnaires of emotional intelligence Wong & Low (2002), competence of nurses Liu et al. (2007) and nurse and Pediatric nurse parent partnership scale Choi and Bang. The data was analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistics (Spearman's correlation coefficient) with SPSS 24 software. Results: The results of the study showed that there is a relationship between parent nurse partnership and the competency of nurses in pediatric departments (r=0.237, p=0.017) and there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and the competency of nurses (r=0.451, p=0.001). However, the relationship between the score of emotional intelligence and the score of parent-nurse partnership in pediatric departments was not significant (r=0.024, p=0.815).Conclusion: According to the findings of the study, the competence of nurses can increase the participation of parents of nurses. Therefore, planning to increase the competence of children's nurses in the formal education period and in-service can help to promote parent-nurse partnership as one of the most important indicators of family-oriented care.

Background & Objectives:Job satisfaction and emotional intelligence are the most important factors in providing the best quality of nurses' services to patients. Lack of attention to this problem is disrupted the organization system in the long term.It causes reduce in the sense of responsibility, burnout and eventually leave of serve. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the relationship between job satisfactions with emotional intelligence among nurses of Kerman University of Medical Sciences hospitals. Material & Methods: This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study. The study population formed of 150 critical and emergency nurses of Kerman University of Medical Science hospitals. Data were collected via instrument which includes background information and 28 items form ofBradbry-Graves, emotional intelligence and 21 items from of job satisfaction by census method. Data analysis was performed by t-test and ANOVA test andPearson correlation coefficients. Results: Results showed that the mean score of job satisfaction was 83.72±17.69 and the mean scoreof emotional intelligence was 121.09±17.56. It was observed that there is a significant relationship between total score of job satisfaction (intrinsic and extrinsic satisfaction) and total score of emotional intelligencewith a correlation coefficient of 0.351 (P>0.0001).The results of analysis of (ANOVA) and t-test showed thatthere is not a significant relationship between demographic variables (age, education, experience, organizational unit, sex) with job satisfaction and emotional intelligence and their dimensions(P>0.05). Conclusions: Job satisfaction is directly related to emotional intelligence and it seems that people with high emotional intelligence feel more satisfaction in their work with colleagues and patients. It is suggested that further studies should be done to reveal the relationship between these two concepts and their relationships with demographic variables.

Background & Objectives: One of the most important applications of psychological research is problem solving in the safety challenges field. Based on the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in mental health and prevention of unsafe behaviors, and to promote workforce's health, this study aimed to survey relationship between emotional intelligence with general health and safety behavior (BS) in an industry, in 2014. Materials & Methods:In a descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study, all operational employees working at a publication industry were included. Demographics, Goldberg general health-28, and Bradberry-Greaves questionnaires and a safety behavior checklist were tools to gather data. Statistical analysis of Pearson correlation was used to data evaluation by SPSS V22. Results: Mean EI test score was calculated which was equal to 122.2±15.7. Also, total score of staffs' general health was reported as 50.4±10.4. 646 out 800 of behaviors that were assessed in present study were safe (80.8%). There was a significant relationship between EI (self-management component) and general health with correlation coefficient equal to -0.3. Also, depression with correlation coefficient equal to -0.334 was related to EI significantly (P<0.05). Further data revealed that there was significant and severe (0.8) relationship between EI (Social awareness component) with safe behaviors. Also, EI was not in significant relation with safety behavior (P<0.05). Conclusion:The findings of this study collectively indicated that subjects had not an acceptable situation for mental factors such as depression. However the results confirmed an essential role of EI in perceiving general health and preventing employees of negative behaviors. Based on this fact that education can improve EI, design an integrated package for EI development of employees was recommended strongly.

Background The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between attachment styles and emotional intelligence/social adjustment of female high school students in Bafq, Iran. Materials & Methods This study used a descriptive correlational methodology. The study population consisted of all 700 students of Bafq, from them a total of 250 students were chosen based on Morgan table and through a multistep clustering sampling method. Shoot's (1998) questionnaire of emotional intelligence, Ahqar's (2006) questionnaire of social adjustment, and Hazen & Shaver (1987) questionnaire of adult attachment were used for data collection. Results Results showed that, by having students' avoidant attachment, one can predict 0.254 and 0.379 of their emotional intelligence (P<0.001) and social adjustment (P<0.001), respectively. However, one cannot significantly predict students' emotional intelligence and social adjustment based on their safe/ambivalent attachment style. Also, there is a direct and significant relationship between students' emotional intelligence and their social adjustment (P>0.05).Conclusion In order to establish a secure attachment style, and building social relationships and adaptation to challenging and stressful situations, it is recommended to have the emotional intelligence construct.

Background & Objectives: Nurses are the individuals who have been exposed to damage caused by improper anxiety. This stress can affect the mental health and nursing performance. So the present study aimed to investigate the effect of emotional intelligence on the anxiety levels of nurses working in hospitals of Sabzevar. Materials & Methods: In this randomized trial, 135 nurses working in Sabzevar hospitals were enrolled and then randomly were assigned to intervention and control groups. The samples were completed demographic questionnaire, questionnaire of emotional intelligence (Bar-One), and Spiel-Berger’s Situational and Characteristic anxiety questionnaires. Then the components of emotional intelligence were trained for intervention group. In termination of training questionnaires were completed and analyzed by T-test and non-parametrical tests and pResults: Totally, 80% of samples were female and average age was 32.11±6.68 years. Before intervention the deference between groups was not significant (p<0.05). After intervention a negative relationship was found for emotional intelligence between tow groups. Also the relation between Situational and Characteristic anxiety in studied groups was significant (p<0.003). After intervention the emotional intelligence has a higher score than before intervention and anxiety status showed a lower status than before intervention in intervention group (p<0.001). Conclusion: Our results show an inverse significant relation between emotional intelligence score and anxiety status, so that nurses with training of emotional intelligence components have a lower anxiety status.

Background and Purpose: The theory of Emotional Intelligence brings a new perspective on predicting factors influencing success as well as basic prevention of mental disorders. Evidences indicate that emotionally expert persons are distinctive in all areas. As students are prospective architects of the society, this study was intended to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and general health in university students.
Methods and Materials: This descriptive research involved the statistical population of male and female undergraduate students at Sabzevar Teacher Training University, enrolled for the second semester of 2003-2004. Through successive sampling, 230 students were selected as the study sample. A researcher-made demographic questionnaire, a general health questionnaire and Mayer's Emotional Intelligence questionnaire were used for data collection. The obtained were analyzed using Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Determination Coefficient, simple Regression, Multiple Regression by step-by-step method, Hest and multi-variate ANOVA.
Results: The correlation between emotional intelligence and general health came up to be- 0.68. In other words, emotional intelligence can predict 46% of changes in general health. ANOVA results indicated that emotional repair was the best predictor of general health. Also, it was revealed that female students were of higher emotional intelligence; accordingly, male students enjoyed a better general health than female students.
Conclusion: Emotional intelligence is one of the promoting factors of general health and as well as a preventive factor in mental disorders. Therefore, emotional intelligence instruction is suggested to promote general health.
