Background and Objectives: Lifestyle modification is an important aspect of preventing various diseases, including various types of cancer. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of aerobic training and green tea extract on NF-κB, COX-2 and suppressor protein of p53 in prostate tissue of healthy rats.Materials & Methods: 32 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: green tea extract, exercise training, green tea extract + exercise training, and control. The exercise training program included aerobic training on a low to moderate intensity on the treadmill (at a speed of 3-10 m/s, 3 sets of 15 min with 2 min of rest between sets, 5 days a week). Green tea extract was gavaged at a dose of 1.3 ml of solution at a concentration of 10 mg/100 ml (3 sessions per week). Scarify was performed 48 hours after the end of the intervention. The results were analyzed using parametric statistical methods of analysis of covariance and one way ANOVA.Results: Aerobic training significantly increased NF-κB level compared to the control group (P = 0.02). The combination of aerobic training and consumption of green tea extract did not significantly change the level of NF-κB. The COX-2 and p53 levels were not significantly different after aerobic training and green tea extract (P > 0.05).Conclusion: Green tea supplementation seems to modulate NF-κB level following aerobic training, which can reflect the anti-inflammatory effects of green tea and its role in preventing prostate cancer.

Introduction: Appendicitis is one of the medical emergencies and one of the most common causes of acute and severe abdominal pain worldwide. If appendicitis is not treated in time, the inflamed tissue of the appendix ruptures, followed by peritonitis and shock. Because the process of appendicitis is an inflammatory process, the acute phase proteins and whole blood bilirubin appear to produce high levels in the serum under these conditions.
Materials and Methods: The present study is a descriptive cross-sectional study that was conducted in 2014-2015 with the participation of 208 patients over 15 years of age with symptoms of acute appendicitis referred to the emergency department of Dr. Beheshti in Sabzevar. In order to check the level of total bilirubin, 2 cc blood samples were taken from the patients before injecting any antibiotics and performing surgery. After the operation, macroscopic findings such as appendix size, perforation or absence during surgery and pathological findings were collected by the researcher.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between total bilirubin and perforation in terms of macroscopy and pathology (p< 0.001).
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between whole blood bilirubin level before surgery and acute appendicitis perforation and can be used along with clinical signs as a laboratory criterion to predict perforation.

Backround Pharmaceutical resources are becoming increasingly problematic contaminants of water resources, particularly in surface and groundwater sources located around industrial and residential communities. They enter water sources mostly through discharges from pharmaceutical industries and municipal wastewater. Consumption of water contaminated with pharmaceutical discharges can have several harmful effects like acute and chronic toxicity in humans. Another critical concern regarding pharmaceutical discharges in water sources is the development of bacterial resistance to medicinal treatment of bacterial infections.Materials & Methods The activated carbon was purchased from Merck Co. A stock solution of 1000 mg/L of entacapone was prepared by dissolving 1.0 g entacapone in 1 L distilled water. In this study, two types of contaminated water (aqueous solution and contaminated real water) were prepared and examined. The aqueous solution was made from mixing aliquots of entacapone stock solution with distilled water. To determine the remaining entacapone in the samples, they were analyzed by a Hach UV-VIS spectrophotometer (DR5000).Results This study showed that activated carbon could be functionalized with magnetic nanoparticles and such magnetic-activated carbon could be used as adsorbents for the removal of entacapone from water samples. The results showed that contact time, sample pH, concentration of entacapone, and concentration of the adsorbent were effective on the removal process. The equilibrium results showed the best fit with Langmuir model with a maximum adsorption capacity of 357.1 mg/g.Conclusion We described here the preparation of magnetic-activated carbons in one reaction step, and the prepared carbon was used as the adsorbents to remove entacapone from water samples rapidly and effectively. The magnetic nanoparticles can be well immobilized on activated carbons and easily separated from the solution using an external magnet. The results revealed that magnetic-activated carbons could be used as the potential adsorbents for removing entacapone from environmental water.

Introduction: The accuracy of the diagnosis of acute appendicitis has been agreed at 85%. Based on this and considering that appendectomy is one of the most common surgeries in Shahid Beheshti Educational and Medical Center in Qom, we decided to compare the accuracy of acute appendicitis diagnosis with the agreed standard in patients undergoing appendectomy in this center.
Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study. It was performed in Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Qom in 2015-2016. Sampling was done by simple random method. Information including sex and age as well as patient pathology diagnosis and complications such as gangrene and appendix perforation were entered into the checklist and analyzed by SPSS software.
Results: In the present study, 250 people were studied, 167 (66.8%) were male and 83 (33.2%) were female. The mean age of patients with acute appendicitis was 23 years and those with other diagnoses had a mean age of 21 years. Also, 167 (66.8%) of them were male and only 83 (33.2%) were female. In this study, out of 250 patients who underwent appendectomy with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis, 194 (77.6%) had a diagnosis of acute appendicitis in pathology and 56 (22.4%) had another diagnosis. The diagnosis of acute appendicitis was 45.5% in women and 44.6% in men, which did not differ much.
Conclusion: Considering these findings and the lower accuracy of appendicitis diagnosis than the agreed standard, it can be concluded that a number of appendectomy procedures, especially appendectomy in women, were unnecessary. It is necessary to examine more carefully before the operation. Received

Background & Objectives: Nanobiosensors could be used instead of traditional detection methods of Escherichia coli O157:H7. In this paper, a nanobiosensor for detection of rfbE gene of the Escherichia coli O157:H7 has been studied by immobilization and hybridization single strand DNA (ssDNA) sequences on the electrode surface modified with gold nanoparticles.
Materials & Methods: Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique was used to study the properties of the sensing modified electrode. The working electrode surface was modified by electrochemical method with gold nanoparticles. The single-stranded DNA sequence using self-assembled monolayer was immobilized on the gold electrode for two hours. A mixed monolayer comprising both mercaptohexanol (MCH) and mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) were used as blocking layer. The hybridization DNA/DNA was performed by immersion of the modified gold electrode into ssDNA at a concentration of 1 μM target DNA.
Results: The results showed that the electrode modified with gold nanoparticles after immobilizing ssDNA effectively detected rfbE gene of Escherichia coli O157:H7 by DNA hybridization . The nanobiosiosensor showed suitable selectivity for the detection of target DNA complementary sequence compared with the mismatched oligonucleotides sequence and the noncomplementary oligonucleotides sequence.
Conclusion: According to the results obtained and similar studies, the electrochemical nanobiosensor based on DNA hybridization has advantages such as low cost, simplicity, and miniaturization and can provide a basis for the development of genomic detection tools.

Objectives Based on the significant progress made on the field of membrane technology, the application of this technology has rapidly increased. The current study aimed at assessing the physicochemical and microbial quality of the desalinated water provided by the private sector (Esin) in Saveh, Iran. The results of the current study were compared with the guidelines of Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI).Methods A finite time service was studied based on a total of 15 samples a day. The period of study was about 7 months from 2014 to 2015. Physical and chemical tests were performed according to the standard methods of water and wastewater. Total coliform bacteria and fecal coliform tests were conducted by multiple tube fermentation method and the total number of heterotrophic bacteria was investigated by the pour plate method. Results Results showed the values of physical parameters as turbidity 0.10 (nephelometric turbidity units) NTU, chemical parameters as electrical conductivity (μs/cm), total hardness, calcium (CaCO3) hardness, magnesium hardness, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, fluoride, phosphate, nitrate, nitrite, sulfate, potassium, sodium, chloride, and residual chlorine (mg/L), and pH were 476, 103.06,78.89, 9.80, 76.42, 37.28, 2.45, 0.11, 0.10, 8.3, 0.003, 37.71, 0.37, 68.23, 62.19, 0.74, and 7.60, respectively. Values of microbial parameters were total coliform 0, fecal coliform 0, manufacturer part number (MPN)/100 mL, and heterotrophic plate count (HPC) 2.5 CFU/mL. Conclusion The obtained results indicated that the quality of desalinated water provided from the water desalination plant of Saveh is approved and no health threatening factor was found. The concentration of measured parameters in the study was satisfactory and acceptable, based on IRISI guidelines.

This study aimed to design and assess a comprehensive questionnaire about the violence against women in an Iranian population.Materials and Methods:This study was a sequential exploratory mixed method.. According to the results of the qualitative Research and the revising of texts ,the primitive instruments were designed. Face validity ,content validity (by measuring content validity toward content validity index)and construct validity(by analysis of exploratory factor) were used to determine the validity of instruments and therefore internal consistency and test-retest method were used to determine reliability of instruments. In face validity 7items were excluded due to a score less than 1.5.In content validity by taking the 0.79 cut-off point to assess content validity index and 0.59 cut-off point to 34 items were elimented. And thus the number of items reduced to 58. validity by exploratory factor analysis was performed. Exploratory factor analysis suggested a six-factor model items including: Social factors undermining family stability, unhealthy life skills of couples, improper and insufficient teachings to couples , unhealthy treating of wives toward their husbands, Family support paradox, immediacy. These six factors explained 75% of variance violence against women. therefore internal consistency and test-retest method were used to determine reliability of instruments(α=0.987), (ICC=0.992).Considering that all validity and reliability indexes of the questionnaire are reported in an appropriate level, violence against women’ questionnaire can be used as a valid and reliable questionnaire in measuring domestic violence in Iranian married men. However ,future research is recommended to evaluate usability of the study in other cultural settings.

Background and purpose: Microphthalmia is defined as the presence of a small eye inside the orbit, which occurs 30 times per 100,000 live births. 11% of which have been reported blind. Microphthalmia is associated with systemic anomalies in more than 50% of cases and has multiple and complex environmental and chromosomal causes. And in it chromosomal replication, deletion and displacement play an effective role. This study reports a case of unilateral microphthalmia referred to Shahidan Mobini Hospital in Sabzevar.Case report: A 35-year-old pregnant woman born to a 33-week-old mother with a gestational age of 33 weeks and one day is based on NT sonography. Examination of the left eye's microphthalmia was observed on the first day after delivery. Conclusion: According to the reported case, in order to prevent such a very worrying birth, it is necessary for obstetricians and gynecologists to pay special attention to this point in the periodic examination of pregnant mothers in the second trimester ultrasound of pregnancy and if The pregnant mother was exposed to X-rays or had infectious diseases or other risk factors such as long-term use of thalidomide, warfarin and alcohol, vitamin A deficiency, in addition to ultrasound, it is recommended to perform genetic testing if possible.

Background & Objectives: Garlic that is known as a medicinal plant for the treatment of cardiovascular and other metabolic diseases, include active photochemical units. Purpose of this study was to investigate the acute effects of garlic supplementation on oxygen consumption volume (Vo2), the volume of produced carbon dioxide (Vco2), and respiratory exchange ratio (RER) among athlete men with hot temper. Materials & Methods: This study was semi experimental with pre-test and post-test project with a control group. The population of this study were all male students of Mohaghegh Ardabili University for the academic year 92-93.Thirty healthy young athletes (Age 20.0 ± 0.8 yrs., Height 178.6 ± 4.7 cm, Weight 71.5 ± 8.9 kg) divided into two equal groups: supplementation (15 patients) and placebo (15 patients). The supplement group received each day for a week 1000 mg of garlic pill and placebo group each day for a week 500 mg of starch. All of the subjects participated before and after supplementation on self-dependent protocol. Vo2, Vco2 and RER of aerobic and anaerobic thresholds as well as maximal state were measured with the respiratory gas analysis system. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) aimed to control the pre-test scores as a covariate as well as the Omega Square test aimed to assess the effect size of garliconVo2, Vco2 and RER of aerobic and anaerobic thresholds as well as maximal state were used to analysis the data. Results: Results indicated that short-term garlic supplementation has a significant effect on maximal oxygen (P= 0.01) and the effect size was reported by 20%.However, garlic consumption reduced to as low as other cardio-respiratory indices that point was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results we can conclude that presumably short-term supplementation of garlic impact on the maximum oxygen consumption in the healthy young athletes.
