Introduction: Herbal medicine, which bears fewer adverse effects than chemical medications, is becoming more popular for the treatment of diabetes.Materials and Methods: After measuring the antioxidant properties, the inhibition pattern between the extracts and the pancreatic α-amylase enzyme was determined. Diabetic mice were treated with herbal extracts and acarbose. The blood biochemical factors were then measured. The best extract examined the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs).Results: The extracts of saffron and chamomile petals showed an inhibitory effect on the α-amylase enzyme with a competitive and mixed pattern, respectively. FBS had a significant decrease in all treatment groups, and only in the group treated with an ultrasound-assisted aqueous extract of saffron petals did insulin levels increase significantly. The ALT enzyme decreased significantly in the presence of saffron extract. The reduction of the AST factor is significant only in chamomile extract. The results showed that for optimal synthesis of silver nanoparticles, values of temperature, pH, time, and silver nitrate salt concentration were 55°C, pH = 10, 4 hours, and 1.2 mM, respectively.Conclusion: The plant extracts studies can efficiently lower the blood sugar levels, increase insulin production, and regulate liver enzymes in the blood. As a result, they have a good impact on diabetes treatment. These extracts outperform the chemical medication acarbose in terms of efficacy and have no negative effects on the liver. The saffron extract demonstrates the ability to synthesize Ag-NP, which is frequently employed in biomedical applications.

Introduction: According to the world health organization the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in our country and world will increase sharply by 2030. Improving glycemic control delays the onset and progression of diabetes complications.The purpose of this study was The effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and emotion-oriented therapy on glycemic control in type 2 diabetic patients.
Materials and Methods: This experimental study was a post-test pre-test by control group. The statistical population of all people with type 2 diabetes who referred to Sabzevar Diabetes Clinic in 1398. 45 were randomly placed in three groups (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, emotion-oriented therapy and control). Patients' blood glucose was measured using a fasting blood glucose. SPSS24 software and descriptive and analytical statistics (covariance) were used to analyze the data.
Results: The analysis showed that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy had a positive and significant effect on glycemic control (P <0.05). Emotion-oriented therapy had a positive and significant effect on glycemic control (P <0.05). Both training methods mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and emotion-oriented therapy, there is no significant difference in post-test scores (P > 0.05).
Conclusion: Considering the significant effect of methods mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and emotion-oriented therapy on glycemic control in type 2 diabetic patients, it is suggested to use these two methods to improving glycemic control in type 2 diabetic patients.

Materials and Methods: The present study was applied in terms of purpose, with pre-test-post-test design, which used a quasi-experimental research design. The statistical population of the study included all people with type 2 diabetes who referred to Sabzevar Diabetes Clinic in 1398. From the mentioned statistical population, 45 people were selected by convenience sampling and randomly divided into 3 groups of 15 people (2 experimental groups and one control group). Antonovski (2006) answered the questionnaire of feeling psychological cohesion. In this study, descriptive data analysis was used to describe the collected data and the data were analyzed using SPSS statistical software.
Results: The results showed that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and emotion-oriented therapy are effective on mental cohesion in type 2 diabetic patients and there was no significant difference in their effectiveness
Conclusion: Cognitive therapies based on mindfulness and emotion-oriented therapy can be used to moderate the psychological problems of diabetic patients.

Introduction: Diabetes is a metabolic syndrome that is increasingly globalized. Many studies are currently focused on the anti-hyperglycemic effects of safe and harmful herbal products including cinnamon. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of cinnamon on blood glucose, HbA1C, and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetic patients because of inconsistency in the results of previous studies.
Materials and Methods: This double blind randomized clinical trial was performed on 69 male and female diabetic patients with mean fasting blood glucose level of 202.16 ± 44.30 in Zahedan, Iran. Subjects were divided into three groups (two groups receiving cinnamon recipients with doses of 2 and 4 g and control group). Subjects received 4 capsules daily for 12 weeks. After 8 hours of fasting, blood samples were taken at the beginning of the intervention and weeks 4, 8 and 12 were measured to measure fasting blood glucose, insulin resistance and HbA1c. One-way ANOVA and Repeated Measurement and SPSS software were used to analyze the data.
Results: At the end of week 8 and 12, a statistically significant decrease in mean fasting blood glucose, HbA1C and insulin resistance was observed in the experimental groups (Cinnamon 2 and 4 g daily) compared to the control group (P <0.001). Also at the end of week 12, the glucose and HbA1C variables were significantly different between the two experimental groups receiving cinnamon (P <0.001).
Conclusion: Long-term consumption of high-dose cinnamon is effective as a low-risk supplement for controlling blood glucose and improving the health of people with diabetes.

Introduction:Depression is one of the most common psychiatric disorders in patients with diabetes that its incidence in addition to the impact on the course of treatment, can be changed the prognosis. This study aimed to determine the effects of progressive muscle relaxation on depression in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods & Materials: This study was a clinical trial that conducted on 77 patients who referred to Diabetes center of Sabzevar city. The participants completed the Beck Depression Inventory and if they earned 14-28 (mild to moderate depression), included to study. Then, participants after consent, were divided Randomly into two groups of progressive muscle relaxation (n= 37) and control (n= 40).relaxationperformed 2 times a week for 20-30 minuteswithin 6 weeks, under the supervision of a researcher. Beck Depression Inventory was completed at the end of the sixth week again.In analytic measurements of this study used of statistical analysis in SPSS software (Version 16). A P value of < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: The mean depression score after intervention in relaxation group compared to control group was ranged from 20.91±4.20 to 11.29±2.85 and from 20.60±4.21 to 19.99±3.61, respectively.According to independent t-test, there was significant differencebetween case and control groups (P<0/001). Paired t-test showed statistically significant difference in terms of depression scores before and after intervention(P<0/001); while in control group had not any statistical significancy (p=0.204) Conclusion:Progressive Muscle Relaxation is effective way to reduce depression in patients with diabetes type 2.

Background and purpose: Diabetes is a global problem and one of the main reasons for debility and mortality in present-day societies. Some studies have indicated that Sleep Durationand blood sugar levels in diabetics are correlated, but this has not been confirmed in other research. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the relationship between Sleep Durationand blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods and materials: In this cross-sectional-analytical study, 244 type 2 diabetes patients referred to the Diabetes Screening Center in south Tehran were studied. After obtaining written consent from the patients, demographic information and information regarding their sleep patterns was collected, and blood samples were taken from them. The data was analyzed using the statistical analyses chi-square, independent t-test, and logistic regression. Findings: Of the 244 studied patients, 168 (68.9%) were females and 67 (31.1%) males, and their overall average age was 58.30±11.22. Study of the relationship between blood sugar level control and sleep hours controlling for demographic variables and duration of the disease showed that Sleep Durationon holidays and working days had no significant correlation with blood sugar level control in the studied patients (p>0.05). Conclusions: There was no correlation between Sleep Durationand fasting blood sugar and HbA1c in patients with type 2 diabetes. We recommend longitudinal studies be carried out in this regard.

Background and purpose: Diabetes is a common disease in Iran and around the world which is associated with veriety of costly complications Depression is one of the most important problems diabetics deals with. Nurses can have a significant role in stress management training in order to improve the life quality of these patients. This study was aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of training patients with Type II diabetes in stress management, on depression.
Materials and Methods: In this Clinical trial research 96 patients with type II diabetes were selected from patients who had refered to the Diabetes Center of Kerman in 2013, and were asked to complete the DASS21 questionnaires, considering common consent. Patients, who had depression, were randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control groups and stress management training was done. Data were collected using questionnaires (Beck = DASS), respectively. Test data covariance, repeated measures ANOVA and SPSS software version 18 were used for analysis at Significant level of p< 0.05.
Results: Mean and standard deviation of depression before intervention in control group and test group, were respectively33.37± ( 13.94) and 32.77± (13.58), and after the intervention, obtained magnitudes for mentioned parameters were respectively 31.34± (13.91) and 20.77± (10.42). Comparing to pre-intervention period, standard deviation of depression has decreased and 51.2% of the experimental group's patients were found less depressed after being trained with the stress management tour. significant different between severity of depression before and after implementation of stress management training were resulted.(p-value= 0/0001).
Conclusions: Stress management training has played an effective role in reducing depression.

Background: Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder that leads to some of complications such as nerve damage that decrease proprioception sense and balance and cause cardiovascular disease. Physical activity is very important in daily schedule and improves sensitivity to insulin. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of of 8 weeks of selective physical activity on static balance and aerobic capacity in female patients with type 2 diabetes.
Material and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out on 17 women with type 2 diabetes. The subjects selected according to investigation items and accessible sampling method. They were assigned in two experimental (age=51.4±7.3, n=8) and control (age=55.7±4.9, n=9) groups. Experimental group underwent three sessions of one hour selected exercise per week for 8 weeks. Control group did not participate in any regular exercise sessions. Static balance assess with stroke stand test and aerobic capacity measured with 6 min walk test for all subjects. Data were analyzed by SPSS 16.0 software and ANCOVA (p≤0.05) was administered.
Findings: There was no significant difference between mean of balance time between pre-test and post-test in experimental group than control group (P≤ 0.05) but mean of distance was increased significantly in experimental group than control group (P≤ 0.05).
Conclusion: A period of physical activity could increase aerobic capacity in type 2 diabetic patients and don’t have significant influence on static balance.

Background and Purpose: Variation and increase in the levels of inflammatory factors and glycemia are among the major problems of type 2 diabetics. Therefore, the present study was designed to investigate the effect of beta carotene-enriched carrot juice on CRP inflammatory indexes, IL-6 and FBS glucose in diabetics. Methods and Materials: This randomized double blind clinical trial was conducted on 44 type 2 diabetics. Participants based on gender and BMI were assigned into two groups (Group A receiving 200 ml carrot juice enriched with 10 mg beta carotene and Group B receiving normal carrot juice) by randomized stratified sampling. Both groups received 200 ml carrot juice for 8 weeks for lunch (instead of cereals). A 24-hour recall was obtained for 3 consecutive and 6 concomitant days at the beginning and end of the study duration. Also, CRP, IL-6, FBS glucose and serum beta carotene levels were measured in FBS blood sample at the beginning and end of the study duration. The consumption data were fed into Nutritionist IV, and analyzed in SPSS 11.5. Results: Each group consisted of 22 (11 male and 11 female diabetics) participants. There was a significant increase in the levels of beta carotene in group A (111.9±64.9 at the beginning and 72±43.9 at the end) (p=0.02). However, the reduction of CRP in Group A (-996.9±2172.6 at the beginning and -537.3±1412.4 at the end) was not significant (p=0.098). Also, IL-6 reduction in Group A (-0.8±2.1 at the beginning and -0.6±2.4 at the end) was not significant (p=0.085). FBS glucose was also not examined in the present study. Conclusion: Daily consumption of carrot juice enriched with 10 mg beta carotene for eight weeks caused an improvement in the levels of serum antioxidants including beta carotene in type 2 diabetics, with no significant effects on serum glucose and inflammatory indexes.

Background and Purpose: Cytokines are among the many immune system factors involved in diabetes pathogenesis. The level of cytokines expression such as IFN-y is varying in individuals and societies. Due to the fact that diabetes nephropathies are known as inflammatory disorders and the role of cytokines especially IFN-g in the establishment of inflammations is well understood, the present study was aimed to examine serum level of IFN-y in type 2 diabetes patients with nephropathy complications. Material and methods: In this cross sectional descriptive study, serum samples were obtained from 100 type 2 diabetes patients with nephropathy and 100 healthy controls for the analysis of IFN-g serum level (eBiosense, ESP). Consent forms were also filled out by patients and healthy controls according to the rules and regulations of Zahedan Islamic Azad University Ethical Committee. The obtained data and questionnaires were analyzed in SPSS using ANOVA; p
