Purpose: The present study was designed to investigate the effect of compound of Brassica Oleracea L. and egg-white on burn wound (type 2) healing in Rat.
Methods and Material: 50 female rats were studied through dividing them to 5 groups of 10 rats. After general anesthesia with ketamin and xylazin (ip), an area of the back of rats was burned with red-hot 50 Rials coin and similar grade II burns were created. Control group received no medication. In the second group, the surface of wounds were covered daily with silver sulphadiazine. In the third group, the surface of wounds were covered daily with compound of cabbage extract and egg-white. In the fourth group, the surface of wounds were covered daily with compound of cabbage powder and egg-white and in the fifth group, the surface of wounds were covered daily with compound of fresh cabbage and egg-white. Rats were killed by ether at the end of 1,2,3 and 4 weeks and samples were taken from the wound region and were histologically assessed. Then the samples were coloured with Hematoxillin and Eosin and studied quantitatively.
Results: Results showed that after 4 weeks the healing of burn wounds in the group receiving cabbage extract and egg-white was faster and better than other groups. The wound healing in silver sulphadiazin group and cabbage powder group were similar. There were no significant differences between these groups with cabbage extract and egg-white group.
Conclusion: Administration of topical cabbage extract and egg-white once a day in second degree burn wounds enhances the healing. Nearly similar results were observed in the silver sulphadiazin group compared with cabbage extract and egg-white group.

Purpose: Nifedipine is a calcium blocking agent of the dihydropyridine group widely used as a vasodilating agent for the treatment of hypertension and ischemic heart disease. Gingival enlargement is a known side effect of nifedipine use. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence of periodontal disease and gingival enlargement in nifedipine treatment patients.
Methods and Material: In a cross sectional study data from 16 patients taking nifedipine were compared with those of 20 patients with cardiac disorder who had not been treated with nifedipine. All patients were examined for the presence of periodontal disease and gingival enlargement using 3 different indices: Periodontal index (Russel), Plaque index (Silness and Loe) and gingival overgrowth index (GO) (Miller and Damm).
Results: Between the nifedipine and control groups, there was no significant difference for age, sex, PI (Russel), and PI (Silness & Loe). But prevalence of gingival overgrowth and its severity were greater in the anterior and inferior teeth in the nifedipine group (P=0.05). Prevalence of clinically significant overgrowth related to chronic medication with nifedipine is low.
Conclusion: Severity of hyperplasia induced by nifedipine directly depended on the level of education and oral hygiene.

Purpose: As no mathematically - based study was conducted so far, we decided to conduct this study to mathematically compare the absorbed doses of radiation.
Methods and Material: Seven radiology centers were selected in Gonbad, Golestan to include 140 patients (with confidence level of 95%) for 11 techniques of x-ray such as skull, shoulder, lang, upper and lower digestive tract, hand feet, back and neck. Required data were gathered by a questionnaire focusing on mAs, Kvp, FSD and other items.
Results: Findings of the study revealed a decrease in the absorbed dose of the body surface with various techniques without distortion of the film. ANOVA revealed no significant difference between the means.
Conclusion: these findings are not adequate thus requiring a consideration of all factors involved in reduction of the absorbed dose if a mathematical model is to be suggested.

Purpose: Nurses often look for ways to help control pain and stress following surgery and diseases while massage therapy is considered a comprehensive procedure to help patients cope with their disease and lower their anxiety. This study was intended to investigate the effects of short - term myofascial trigger massage therapy to head, neck and shoulder areas on physiological parameters and relaxation.
Methods and Material: In this experimental study, the subjects were originally homogenized as for their age and sex and then assigned randomly into control and experimental groups. 40 subjects (half male and half female) with mean age of 21.5±1.8 (for males) and 20±1.4 (for females) participated in the study. For five minutes, their pulse, systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as their conception of muscular tension and psychological status before and after the intervention were recorded.

Purpose: This study is conducted to investigate the relative efficacy of behavioral cognitive techniques, medical therapy and their combination in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder.
Methods and Material: This study is based on behavioral-cognitive theories and biochemical treatment of mental disorder. Four groups of 8 were randomly selected from among single and married men and women referring to psychotherapy clinics. Obsessive compulsive disorder scale of Madsly, Bell Brown, Salkovskis, Van open and medicinal treatment were used for measurement.
Results: No Significant differences were found to exist between the subjects as for their age, education, sex and duration of suffering from the disorder; however, the difference was significant in their marital status. Also, each individual treatment procedure reduced the symptoms of obsession, depression and anxiety, changed their beliefs, unhealthy feeling and partially improved their social adaptation. However, the combination of medicinal and behavioral-cognitive techniques had higher efficacy.
Conclusion: Behavioral-cognitive procedure came up to be superior to medical therapy except in improving depression.

Purpose: Diabetes mellitus is a common chronic disease with a prevalence of 1 to 2% in the world. It predisposes to other disease, such as cardiovascular diseases. This study was conducted to examine some of the problems of these patients.
Methods and Material: 334 subjects (109 male and 225 female) were randomly selected as study samples. Having responded to a questionnaire including economic and social questions, the subjects were examined to measure their height and weight as well as some biochemical tests.
Results: The findings revealed that 24.9% suffered from type I and 75.1% form type II diabetes; 31% were illiterate and 47% were of elementary education. In 49.9% of the type I sufferers and 85.2% of the type II sufferers, BMI was above 25. Ale hemoglobin was over 8% in 85.3% of the subjects. FBS higher than 110 mg/dl was observed in 73.2% and 86.4% of type I and type II sufferers respectively. The cholesterol level was higher than 259 in 9.1% and 27.3%; and triglyceride level was higher than 170 mg/dl in type I and II sufferers respectively.
Conclusion: Therefore, as a high percentage (75%) of the patients were from type II sufferers with no appropriate care giving, a suitable training schedule is necessary to control the weight, sugar and cholesterol as well as other indexes of patients attended diabetes clinics.

Purpose: Early diagnosis of coronary arterial disease (CAD) plays an important part in reducing the complications, non-invasive tests, exercise test and myocardial perfusion imaging in particular. This study is intended to compare the results of these two procedures as well as to evaluate the distribution of coronary risk factors in various patients groups.
Methods and Material: MPI and exercise test were conducted for 167 patients who referred to the nuclear medicine clinic at Imam Hossein Hospital in Shahroud, Iran. Information on coronary risk factors were collected.
Results: The mean age for men and women were 49.8 and 49.1 years respectively MPI in 52.7% were noted. Hypertension was more frequent in female, while smoking was more frequent in males, with no otherwise remarkable difference for other coronary risk factors. Hypertension and familial history of IHD were higher in the abnormal MPI group. Than the normal group. Abnormal exercise test results were associated with abnormal MPI in 74.5%. However, normal exercise test results were accompanied with abnormal MPI in 43.1 %.
Conclusion: The overall sensitivity and specificity of exercise test were 43% and 82.7% respectively. Sensitivity was higher in men while specificity was slightly higher in females.

Purpose: Brucellosis, a common disease of man and animal, is a rather prevalent disease. It is an uncontrolled disease in most developing countries, and of considerable prevalence in Iran, Khorassan and Sabzevar alike. This study is therefore designed to study the prevalence of brucellosis and factors affecting it in the rural population of Sabzevar.
Methods and Material: A number of villages proportionately sampled by cluster sampling. Subjects were selected through stratified sampling considering all age groups and both sexes. Total sample was 504.
Results: 84 subjects were found to be positive in laboratory tests, of which 45 cases were 1.40 right titration, 21 cases with 108, 9 cases with 1.16, 4 cases with 1064,4 cases with 1.32 and one case with 1.128.
Conclusion: Due to the high contamination rate and its economical consequences of this disease on the individual and the society in general, we can take steps to prevent its prevalence by implementing training programs.

Purpose: Every year, a lot of metal lathe cut machine workers bear severe occupational eye injures due to foreign bodies. The goal of this study was to determine the number of the population who experienced foreign body in their eyes, as well as attempting self removal of the foreign body.
Methods and Material: 351 persons of metal lathe cut machine workers were studied in city of Mashhad. These people were chosen by random sampling.
Results: 100% of the population had some experience of foreign body at least in one eye. Among them only 5.9% preferred to go to the hospital. The rest of the population did remove the foreign body by themselves or other people. Ocular local anesthesia especially terracing were used by 83% of them.
Conclusion: The results of the study compromised with some other studies in different countries and the responsibilities of the education and treatment centers in increasing the knowledge of the people are discussed.
