چکیده

زمینه و هدف: تمامی بیماران همودیالیزی، طی مراحل مختلف همودیالیز، درجه ای از اضطراب را تجربه می کنند. اضطراب می‌تواند باعث افزایش ناتوانی و مرگ و میر گردد. در این مطالعه اثربخشی استنشاق اسانس‌ پرتقال در کاهش میزان اضطراب بیماران همودیالیز مورد بررسی قرار گرفت. مواد و روش‌ها: در این کارآزمایی بالینی، 62 بیمار همودیالیزی به‌طور تصادفی و یک سوکور در دو گروه (اسانس پرتقال31 نفر و مراقبت معمول31 نفر) قرار گرفتند. در گروه اسانس پرتقال، پس از اخذ رضایت‌نامه کتبی، استنشاق اسانس توسط دستمال کاغذی آغشته به یک قطره اسانس به مدت 20-15 دقیقه انجام ‌شد. این روش سه بار در هفته به مدت 4 هفته به‌کار برده شد. درگروه مراقبت معمول، مراقبت‌های رایج در بخش همودیالیز بیمارستان انجام ‌گرفت. در هر دو گروه، میزان اضطراب آشکار و پنهان بعد از اتمام همودیالیز در یک مرحله قبل از مداخله و پایان هر هفته توسط پرسشنامه اضطراب اشپیل برگر اندازه‌گیری و ثبت ‌شد. یافته‌ها: میانگین اضطراب آشکار قبل از مداخله در گروه پرتقال و مراقبت معمول به ترتیب 7/9±9/46 و 6/11±3/48 بود. میانگین اضطراب پنهان قبل از مداخله به‌ترتیب 2/9±5/46 و 6/11±9/47 بود. میانگین اضطراب آشکار هفته چهارم بعد از مداخله در گروه پرتقال و مراقبت معمول به‌ترتیب 7/8± 9/35 و 7/10±1/45 بود. میانگین اضطراب پنهان در همین زمان به‌ترتیب 9/8±0/36 و 8/11±6/45 بود. استنشاق اسانس پرتقال، میزان اضطراب آشکار و پنهان را به‌صورت معنی‌داری نسبت به قبل از مداخله کاهش داده است (001/0>P). در استنشاق اسانس پرتقال تفاوت معناداری در میزان اضطراب آشکار و پنهان بین مراحل بعد از مداخله با یکدیگر وجود داشت (05/0

The effect of aromatherapy with orange essential oils on anxiety in patients undergoing hemodialysis

Background: All hemodialysis patients experience some degree of anxiety during hemodialysis. Anxiety increases morbidity and mortality. The aim of this research is to compare the effect of orange essential oil aromatherapy on anxiety of hemodialysis patients. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, sixty-two hemodialysis patients were randomly assigned to two groups: an orange oil group (n=31), and a usual care group (n=31). In orange oil group, subjects inhaled orange oil using handkerchiefs smeared with orange oil for 15-20 minutes. This method was used three times a week for four weeks. In the usual care group, subjects received the routine care of the hemodialysis ward. The level of anxiety in the two groups was measured and compared before intervention, as well as after the first, second, third, and fourth weeks of intervention, using Spielberg State-Trait Anxiety Inventory questionnaire.Results: Before intervention, the mean state anxiety scores were 46.9±9.7 and 48.3±11.6 and the mean trait anxiety scores were 46.5±9.2 and 47.9±11.6 in orange oil and usual care groups, respectively. After intervention, the mean state anxiety scores were 35.9±8.7 and 45.1±1.7 and the mean trait anxiety scores were 36.0±10.0 and 45.6±11.8 in orange oil and usual care groups, respectively.
